A Yorkshire photographer’s BnW Intimate beach elopement wedding
wedding photography in BnW
I’m influenced by a lot of photographers, but probably my biggest influence is Peter Lindbergh. His BnW fashion photography changed the fashion industry forever. One of his earliest and most iconic shoots was on a beach with soon to be internationally famous super models. So when shooting Gracey and Luci on Saturday I couldn’t help myself channelling on of my absolute idols. BnW, a focus on emotion, and a love for representing women through a less stereotypical and male sexualised way are Lindbergh’s trademarks. And so I got to work!
The grain of the BnW, the windswept hair, and the way Gracey and Luci look at each other speaks to my sensibility in a way that is authentically me. I fell in love with photography through BnW images and it’s always a medium I hold highly in my wedding shoots. BnW focuses the image to the most singular aspect, emotion. Free from the distractions of colour, the images can represent a heightened sense of belonging and intimacy. And because we don’t see the world in BnW, the images have an other worldly feeling – a timeless quality that cannot be marked by editing style or technological advances.
Not many people would think of photography a glorious golden hour sunset on a beach in BnW, but I’m so happy that I did. I hope you agree.
