Yorkshire Wedding Photographer in Cumbria at eden barn

 Kim + Nick

May 2019 saw me travel to Little Musgrave, Cumbria for the wedding of the unbelievably loveable Kim + Nick! Kim + Nick booked me a day after Tim + Emily’s wedding last summer on the recommendation of a friend at that wedding. As a photographer, that instills a sense of confidence. Particularly as at that point no one had seen any of Tim + Emily’s wedding photos!! Being recommended on personality alone I knew we’d all get on like a house on fire at Kim + Nick’s Eden Barn wedding. And I wasn’t wrong! The day was full of laughter and joy.

We started at Apple Tree Cottage, on Kim’s family run farm in Low Grassgill. A beautiful stone cottage it was the perfect setting to start this rural wedding. The dress was hanging up downstairs with everyone else getting their makeup and hair done upstairs. This allowed for a magically serendipitous moment with the young girls on the balcony and the dress below. A moment we would replicate later with Kim and the bridesmaids as Dad got to see her.

St. Columba’s Church, Warcop is one of those churches that looks to have stood for hundreds of years, so engrained into the landscape. The church held real emotional meaning for Kim and her family. A favourite moment of the ceremony was when Kim’s dog reached across the aisle for a stroke from Nick’s Dad during one of the hymns. Just a small example of the microcosms that happen during weddings.

Confetti and a VW Camper Van ride later and we’re at the beautiful Eden Barn in Little Musgrave. I have to say, it was decorated perfectly. And the barn room itself, with the lights, looked stunning.

Splitting the newlywed portraits into two sessions either side of the meal helped keep energy levels high and the wedding focused on enjoyment rather than photographs. We made use of the beautiful surroundings Eden Barn has to offer, just going for a quiet walk whilst the guests queued for waffles.

We finished the night with an impromptu sparkler procession and first dance outside. The energy of Kim + Nick still at this point in the day was infectious! And that was a first for me as well!! Not only was it a first sparkler procession but also having the first dance outside. A great idea that gave their wedding a truly unique feel and one heck of a moment of fun as well!!

Thanks you both so much! And I hope you all enjoy looking through this short selection of photographs and seeing the story unfold.
