A Yorkshire photographer’s middleton lodge wedding
Brittany & Thomas’ Sneak Peak
Brittany & Thomas’ wedding saw me photograph Middleton Lodge for the very first time, and let me say I hope it’s not the last time!! What a stunning venue and amazing people. We were a little worried about our outdoor ceremony plans, given the UK had been in the middle of what felt like rainy season. All week the torrential rain had fallen, but thankfully we got our outdoor wedding ceremony!
And what an outdoor ceremony it was! This is why I’ll miss Fujifilm Pro 400h film stock, the way it captures the greens is just perfect for me. Kodak just produces too much warmth for me (in certain situations that is a good thing) but with fuji the greens have a coolness to them that just makes greens look magical.
Due to Covid, Brittany & Thomas had postponed their wedding multiple times. It’s an arduous process where each time we try and find a new date that works with each supplier’s calendar – I’d been looking forward to shooting their wedding for so long! When the day finally arrived the wait was so worth it.
A Great Gatsby theme ran throughout the day, including a beautiful reading during the ceremony, and the Father of the Bride speech. It’s one of my favourite books, and a novel that I adapted for the stage, so you could say I was happy to be mesmerised by the green light.
The stunning grounds and interiors of Middleton Lodge were our canvas but Brittany and Thomas filled the day with laughter and tears. It made photographing the day easy, they were themselves and all I had to do was be there as the narrative unfolded.
