Yorkshire Wedding Photographer at utopia at broughton hall
Becca + David
August Bank Holiday 2019 saw me travel to the beautiful Broughton Hall Estate, Yorkshire, for the wedding of the unbelievably loveable Becca + David! We’d originally met on a rainy Yorkshire day in a local coffee shop in Menston. It soon became apparent that this was going to be a very special wedding and one that I was going to look forward to immensely!
We started at Eden Cottage, on the Broughton Hall Estate. A beautiful stone cottage, it was the perfect setting to start this day. Surrounded by fields, the tranquility on a warm August morning set the tone for the day to come.

The ceremony saw us drive to Menston. The ceremony took place at St John The Divine, where everyone was warm and inviting. The service was a beautiful mix of tradition and personality. And the church was lovely and cool inside, thankfully.

It was then back to Broughton Hall Estate, but this time the spectacular Utopia at Broughton Hall. A glassed pavilion encircled by a walled garden gives Utopia a secret feeling.

After the formals, I quickly stole Becca and David away for 10 minutes, so they could be alone together for the first time as Husband and Wife.

Speeches followed, and in a beautiful break from tradition, Becca wasn’t going to let a captive audience go to waste! But, apparently, neither were the two Best Men; who, in another change from tradition, took aim at the Bride first and not the groom!

With the band setting up for the evening reception and the sun setting, we took this time to get some beautiful portraits in the warm evening sun. These were all shot on Portra 400 film with the Contax 645 medium format film camera. The combination of Portraits and the Contax 645 give the images an unrivalled ethereal quality. The background becomes painting like.

This was actually the first bouquet throw of the summer for me believe it or not. It’s fair to say that Suzi really really wanted to catch the bouquet! I’m not sure she jumped the highest, but when everyone landed that bouquet was securely in her grasp!

And now for the bit I always enjoy the most: the dancing!! Cut that cake, start the band, and get on your dancing shoes!!
