Wedding Image – why I love it takes you through a particular image from a real wedding and explains why we love it so much!

And today’s image is a particular favourite from a wedding we shot earlier in the summer, when England was in the middle of a glorious heatwave.

The image was probably the final shot I took during a quick portrait session after the wedding ceremony at Priory Cottages in North Yorkshire. I was perched on top of a wall to get a particular angle of the bride and groom together; they were just to interact together and be themselves and I was to capture what unfolded. I have beautiful images of them together embraced in a loving kiss but this is the one I love the most.

I don’t know what was said, I don’t particularly remember what they were doing just before this moment, but as it happened I knew I’d managed to capture what I was looking for. In this one moment the bride is completely relaxed and in love, you can see it written in the way she smiles and how her eyes are so full of life.

The emotion in this photo cannot be staged because it’s the emotion of your wedding day – of being with the person who, out of all the billions of people on the planet, you have decided to spend the rest of your life with. And in this photo I can see that.

Most importantly, every time I see this photo I can feel it.
