Fine art Wedding Photography Emotion

The Beauty of Honest Emotional Photography

Why Emotion Matters

Emotion in wedding photography elevates good to great. It’s why we do what we do. The tears, the laughter, and the sheer unbridled joy. I have a tear in my eye at pretty much every wedding I photograph, whether in a heartfelt speech, a unique reading, or a tender moment of affection.

Nerves & Excitement

As a male photographer I am routinely grateful to each and everyone of my beautiful brides who invite me in to join them at Bridal Prep. It really is a privilege to be able to document these tender quiet moments with those you love the most. Quite often these are the photos that I like the most. And as you can see, these are the moments that routinely capture the most emotion. That moment where the last few buttons of the dress are being fastened by your Mother, your Sister, or your best friend, are special moments of reflection; and when there’s a mirror I know we’re going to get photos that you’ll cherish forever.

Tears of Happiness

Some people cry and some people don’t. To cry or not to cry? Whether your Husband-to-be writes you a handwritten letter for your morning and addresses it to … well, that’s to stay between Jess and Simeon! Or you catch a glimpse of the love of your life walking down the aisle and you have to turn away because otherwise you’ll burst from the emotion if not. Or watching a slide-show during Speeches documenting your friendships and you grab each other’s hand for support, knowing all the joy and pain that has brought you to this moment of celebration. Or you walk down the stairs in your dress to your Father waiting at the bottom.  Whatever it is that makes you cry, those moments are beautiful and magical.

Sheer Joy & Excitement

And when it’s all said and done, and the ceremony is over, there’s this euphoric release of energy. It’s as if you and your partner are born again. Let’s get that confetti thrown, the speeches made, and the dancing begun!! Don’t worry, I’ll be there with my camera to capture it all as it unfolds!

A Little Thank You

Summer 2019 has been an amazing year for Christopher Thomas Photography, we’ve met some amazing people, laughed with them, cried with them, and shared incredible once in a lifetime moments! Thank you to each and every one of my amazing couples for inviting me to celebrate their special day with them. 2019 isn’t over yet, but with the hectic summer schedule behind us it feels right to have a moment of reflection.
